1. VIEWING SIMS USING WEB PLAYER:

  1. The Web Player runs either as a signed Java applet or from a Java library you installed on your machine. When you visit a web page with a sim, you may see a message that says that the applet was signed by Stagecast. The message will ask you if you "trust" the certificate or if you "grant" access for the software to run on your computer. Click "trust" or "grant" to run the Web Player and view the sim.

  2. If you cannot view sims online, here are some common problems:

Browser Configuration: Your browser must be configured such that Java is enabled. Win only: If your browser does not have any Java settings, you may need to install Java for your browser. Install the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from java.com.

Blank frame or a grey alert box saying that the sim could not be opened. If you clicked "deny" or "don't trust" on the signed applet message, then you will not be able to view the sim. You may reload the page to try again.

"Applet Error" or other Java message in the Java console. There are several possibilities:

    • The person who posted the web page may have forgotten to put the .sim/.world file or StagecastApplet.jar in the same folder on the web server as the .html/.htm file; or
    • someone may have moved or deleted one of these files; or
    • you may be running Stagecast Web Player 2 while the version of StagecastApplet.jar on the server is older.
Only someone with the right to post files to that server can correct these problems. See POSTING SIMS ON A WEB SITE below.

Sim Does Not Load Completely: If a sim begins to load but never completes, you may not have enough memory available.  Try quitting other applications.

Sim Runs Slowly: If you run Creator or Player and a browser at the same time, and the browser has visited a web page with a Creator sim, then the sims will run slower. Quit either the browser or Creator/Player to regain full speed.

2. VIEWING INSTANTSIM GAMES ONLINE WITHOUT A PLAYER:

If you need help viewing InstantSim™ games and simulations without a Player, please read the InstantSim Help. If you're not sure whether you are using Stagecast Web Player or InstantSim, here's how to tell:

You can tell whether you are using Stagecast Web Player or InstantSim by how the game appears on your screen. An InstantSim game has no top border; a Web Player game has a wide top border - a gray area with the name of the game in the center.

3. POSTING SIMS ON A WEB SITE:

An easy way to share the sims you've created is to post them on the World Wide Web. Any sim you create with Stagecast Creator can be put on a web page for others to enjoy. Please read the Web Posting Help page for design tips, help posting to your own web site and help posting to the Stagecast web site.

4. CREATING AND MODIFYING SIMS:

If you would like more information on using, creating and modifying sims, please view the online product help. These web pages include the same help that is provided when you click on the Question Mark help symbol in version 1 of Stagecast Creator or Stagecast Player.

5. MORE HELP?

Please return to the Stagecast Home Page or view the Stagecast Support page for further information. You also may view the list of online documentation for other support information.
