Stagecast sends a few announcements each year to members of the Stagecast Mailing list. We announce software updates and upgrades, special offers related directly to our products, and major corporate events. If you would like to join this list, please send email to listserv @ list.stagecast.com with the text "subscribe stagecast-mailing-list" in the body of the message.

February 2010: Game Building Resources. ETR Associates developed game development curricula, complete with lesson plans and handouts, for Stagecast Creator as part of the Girl Game Company. View all of ETR's free resources for teaching youth to program computer games in the Teacher's Lounge in the virtual world of Whyville. Or just the Stagecast Creator-specific resources: the Creator Curriculum and the Creator Handouts.
February 2010: Stagecast Support Forum. Stagecast now has a forum for Stagecast Creator support topics. Register and share your knowledge with others by posting topics or answering questions. Or just browse the forum for answers.
January 2010: Stagecast store accepts PayPal. You may purchase both consumer and education packages of Stagecast Creator from the Stagecast online store. PayPal now processes payments for the Stagecast store. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, or Paypal. A PayPal account is not required.
November 2009: New steps for publishing sims. When you publish your sim on a web site, users can easily play your sim with the Stagecast Web Player. Now users no longer need to install the Stagecast Web Player before viewing your sim. With just a couple changes to your web page, the Web Player can automatically download and play your sim. Follow these updated steps to post your sim onto a web server.
November 2009: Games for Health Researchers in Manguinhos, Rio de Janeiro are working with young people in the community and Moleque de Ideias to develop Stagecast games on health issues such as tuberculosis. See this article in the Journal of Brazil (or pdf).
September 2009: Game Design Studio ETR has built a prototype Game Design Studio as part of their Girl Game Company in Whyville, a popular virtual world for teens and pre-teens. Users can experiment with building their own Stagecast games in Whyville.
September 2009: Snow Leopard and Windows 7. Stagecast users upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard or Windows 7 will need to upgrade to Stagecast Creator 2.0.2. Users with purchased copies of Stagecast Creator 2 may upgrade to 2.0.2 for a nominal fee with proof of purchase.
August 2009: Find us on Facebook. Stagecast now has a page on Facebook. Become a fan today and share with the Stagecast community!
July 2009: Summer 2009. Students at summer camps across North America are using Stagecast Creator to learn about game design and to make their own computer games. Read an article about a Computer Explorers camp in Maryland. Click here to see a list of summer camps using Stagecast Creator.
April 2009: Stagecast Creator in Brazil. Through their work with children using technology, Stagecast partner Moleque de Ideias in Brazil has explored technologies which enhance and empower a child's capacity of thinking, expressing and socializing. They consider Stagecast Creator one of the most innovative software in their educational environment. See this article in the Brazilian newspaper, O Dia.
April 2009: Video Produced by WGBH (PBS). WGBH (PBS Boston) recently filmed Stagecast Creator in action as part of this video profile on Build IT, a collaboration between SRI and Girls Inc of Alameda County. Middle school girls use Stagecast Creator to learn design and programming skills in the Build IT program, which is a project in The Innovative Technology Experiences for Students and Teachers (ITEST) program established by the National Science Foundation. This video is one of six profiles highlighting key ITEST projects.

November 2008: Teacher Take-Home Privilege. With purchase of a lab package of Stagecast Creator Education Edition, teachers may use the software at home for training or lesson plannning.
August 2008: Learn Stagecast Creator in Dutch. Educators in the Netherlands are developing Dutch tutorials on making games with Stagecast Creator. Visit Groeien door Games for the list of guides and videos.
May 2008: Buy Download of Stagecast Creator. You may now purchase a digital download version of Stagecast Creator from our download store.
April 2008: Stagecast Creator in Dutch. Stagecast Creator 2 is now available in Dutch. Both the software and the tutorial have been translated to Dutch. Download the free evaluation version from the Download area of our web site. You may purchase from our online store.
December 2007: SMART Board Ready. Stagecast Creator has been approved for use with the SMART Board interactive whiteboard by the SMART Software Accreditation Program (Ready level).
September 2007: Stagecast Creator 2.0.2 Stagecast Creator version 2.0.2, which provides compatibility with the Windows Vista operating system and Java 6, is now available. Upgrading to this release is recommended for Vista users. Vista users with purchased copies of Stagecast Creator may upgrade to 2.0.2 for a nominal fee with proof of purchase.
August 2007: Build IT. SRI International and Girls Incorporated of Alameda County (Girls Inc.) are incorporating Stagecast Creator into Build IT, an after school and summer curriculum for under served middle school girls to develop information technology (IT) fluency, interest in mathematics, and knowledge of IT careers. They find Stagecast Creator to be an easy tool for the girls to use and for learning IT skills such as object-oriented programming, collaboration, and leadership in teams. Build IT is supported by funds from the National Science Foundation.
July 2007: The Educational Software Preview Guide (ESPG). The ESPG Consortium has selected Stagecast Creator for inclusion in the 2007 Educational Software Preview Guide. Stagecast Creator has been listed in the guide since 2001.
April 2007: Stagecast Tenth Anniversary. Stagecast is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year. Thank you to all our partners, advocates, and customers who have supported us and Stagecast Creator along the way.
January 2007: Stagecast Creator in Portuguese. Stagecast Creator 2 is now available in Portuguese. Both the software and the tutorial have been translated to Brazilian Portuguese. Download the free evaluation version from the Download area of our web site. You may purchase from our online store.
November 2006: COMPUTER EXPLORERS. COMPUTERTOTS/COMPUTER EXPLORERS, a provider of computer and technology education for children, uses Stagecast Creator in a game design course offered by their franchises nationwide. Called BAG it! Build Arcade Games, the course teaches students to design, create, and edit their own arcade-style video games. Students take home a CD with their game and a copy of Stagecast Creator so they can BAG it when the class is over.
November 2006: Building Girls' Competence in Technology. Stagecast is a partner with Education, Training, and Research Associates (ETR) on Girl Game Company. Girl Game Company is an after school and summer program for Latina girls in middle school. The program will teach girls to design and program original computer games using Stagecast Creator, with the goal of building their competence and confidence with information technology and science. This project is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation to ETR, a non-profit organization focused on health promotion and education. The funding is focused on providing information technology experiences for students and teachers (ITEST).
September 2006: "Stagecast Creator: Getting Started" Training DVD. Stagecast is now offering a training DVD as another way for new users to get started with Stagecast Creator. In under an hour, the video goes over the basics of the software as well as more advanced topics such as randomness, variables, and the calculator. Buy from our online store.
May 2006: Stagecast on Intel Macs. We recently updated our Mac installers so that Stagecast Creator runs well on Macintosh computers with Intel processors. These updated installers are now shipping in Stagecast Creator packages. If you upgrade to a new Intel Mac and install from an older Stagecast Creator 2.0.1 CD, we suggest you run the Stagecast updater application for Mac OSX.
May 2006: Computer Science Symposium. Computer science educator Michelle Hutton will be giving a talk on "Simulations with Stagecast Creator" in July at the Computer Science and Information Technology Symposium, hosted by CSTA and ISTE and held in conjunction with NECC in San Diego, California. December 2005: Tutorial in Greek. A Greek translation of the Stagecast Tutorial is now available as a free download. The translation of the tutorial in Greek was done by the Learning in Science Group, University of Cyprus, under the supervision of Loucas Louca, Ph.D.
September 2005: The Game Academy. The Game Academy, located in Victoria, British Columbia, offered Video Game Summer Camps using Stagecast Creator this past summer.
In our sessions, 9 yr old kids go from "zero to game" in less than 8 hours and get to take a copy of the software home with them. How Cool is That!

May 2005: National Computer Camps. National Computer Camps, the first computer camp in the U.S., has chosen to use Stagecast Creator in their new Game Design course for kids ages 8-12. After the students complete the course, they will bring a copy of Stagecast Creator home with them!
April 2005: Stagecast in Cyprus. The Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Cyprus has approved the use of Stagecast Creator software in the elementary schools in Cyprus for grades 5 and 6. The ministry selected the software to support teaching and learning in science.
January 2005: iD Tech Camps Winning Games. Congratulations to up-and-coming video game designers Adam, Ross, and Julianna, winners of the Stagecast Creator and iD Tech Camps Challenge. These video gaming students took a Multimedia Adventures course at iD Tech Camps where they designed video games using Stagecast Creator.

September 2004: NAPPA Honors Award 2004. Stagecast Creator was selected as an Honors National Parenting Publications Award Winner, a program sponsored by United Parenting Publications, Inc. and promoted in association with parenting publishers across the United States.
September 2004: Tutorial in Hebrew. A Hebrew translation of the Stagecast Tutorial is now available as a free download.
June 2004: Stagecast Creator in German. Stagecast Creator 2 is now available in German. Both the software and the tutorial have been translated to the German language. Download the free evaluation version from the Download area of our web site. Contact the Stagecast Orders department to purchase the software.
May 2004: Hottest Products Award. Stagecast is proud to be an iParenting Media Award Winner. Stagecast Creator 2 was selected as a 2004 Hottest Product.
April 2004: The Old Schoolhouse Magazine. Read this review of Stagecast Creator: "while seemingly "playing" they are really learning, thinking, experimenting, analyzing, and grasping new concepts. I highly recommend "Stagecast Creator" for any family with children up through the high school age or beyond."
March 2004: Stagecast Community-Sponsored Contest. Several groups of Stagecast users are working together to hold a game design contest. We think it's a great idea! Learn more about the contest here.

February 2004: Buy Creator from Scholastic. Scholastic is now offering the Education version of Stagecast Creator 2 (single-license) in The Teacher Store at Scholastic.com . February 2004: Mac OS X Update. An update for Stagecast Creator 2.0.1 Mac OS X users is now available. The update improves compatibility of the Stagecast Creator and Player applications with Mac OS X, including OS X 10.3 (Panther). Visit Downloads for more information.
October 2003: Top Choice Software Award. The Museum of Science, Boston selected Stagecast Creator as one of "Eight engaging, multimedia-rich titles [which] will receive the 2003 Museum of Science Top Choice Award, based on their ease of use, educational content, and production quality." Stagecast Creator will be installed in the museum's Cahners ComputerPlace discovery exhibit and will be available for sale in the museum store during the holiday season.
August 2003: Upcoming PBS Documentary. KCTS Television, a PBS station in Seattle, Washington is producing a national documentary entitled "Videogame Revolution" that explores the history of video games and game designers of the future. The documentary will include a segment on children using Stagecast Creator in a game design course at summer camp.
August 2003: Stagecast Creator in French. Stagecast Creator 2 is now available in French. Both the software and the tutorial have been translated to the French language.
